I forgot to write about going to see the Devil's Marbles on Friday. They were big stacks of huge boulders. Some were spheres and some were ovals. Some were split in half. Some looked like they had been sliced with a giant's knife. We saw one sphere that was on a slope, but not rolling anywhere! They were formed somehow. (Mum says : "oh dear.")
Yesterday we drove from Daly Waters to Mataranka. We went to a really old cemetery that was built a hundred million years ago or something. People who died a long time ago were buried there. A lot of them were characters from "We of the Never Never" a famous Australian book. We checked one camping site, but we didn't like it, so went to another one, which was on a farm. One we'd set up the camper, we got our swimmers on and walked to Bitter Springs, which is a waterhole with really warm water. We went for a swim, but it was too deep for Mum and Dad to stand up and there were no edges, so it was pretty hard. We took turns swimming to Mum or Dad. There was lots of slippery stuff (algae-ed) on the stairs so it was tricky. We spent most of the time holding on to the stairs and kicking about in the warm water. It was really nice.
When we went back to the camper for dinner there was a family camped next to us and we made friends with the two boys. We played chasings and the eldest boy slipped in the mud and was covered from head to toe!
During the night Claire had a big accident and fell out of the camper! She is ok and has forgotten what happened luckily!
This morning we played with our new friends for a little while and then started to drive to Katherine. We checked out the Tourist Information Centre for brochures on places to stay and things to see. We went to the supermarket to buy supplies. After lunch we came to the campsite. It is nice. There are lots of leaves and sticks and we've been making pictures with leaves, twigs and seed pods. There are lots of trees and the shade is really nice. We chased skinks on the tree trunks. We went for a swim in the pool. Luckily there were no crocodiles! We could stand up in the shallow end. I kept diving under and tickling toes. The water was a little bit cold but it was still nice. We have been playing outside since we got back from the pool and we are having chops, chips and vegies for dinner. Yum! One of my favourites!
Blogging is sorta hard. Mum makes me do it. I don't know why.
Mum says : I want Hannah to write a blog of things she sees and wants to remember, because if it's in her words and things she found interesting she will find it easier to remember when she is old like me. We are both finding it a painful process!
Note to Mummy: Hehehe, I love the honesty. As I find getting Dylan to write his spelling words painful, I can only imagine. One of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time! :p
ReplyDeleteHannah: I am so, super, terribly jealous about the swimming! It sounds like soooo much fun. I laughed about Claire falling out of the camper, but then thought, "Hmmm, maybe it wasn't funny."
I know writing a blog is hard, but I'm so glad you are sticking with it. I love reading about all your adventures.
