Katherine
5 things I saw today that were interesting:
Kingfisher - was catching it's breakfast. It caught a frog while we were watching it out our camper window.
Wallabies - having morning tea at the National Park. Some of them had babies in their pouches. We got very close to them. They were really cute especially the really little ones.
Nitilmuk (Katherine Gorge) Visitor Information Centre - there was a display of turtle eggs. They looked real. There was also a model of Katherine Gorge in the floor that you could walk over. You could see all the different gorges. There are six in all. There was Aboriginal paintings and a weaving display.
Paperbark nest - hanging in the branches of a tree. It was made of paperbark and leaves and twigs. We found a nearby paperbark tree that the bird may have used.
A bird of prey - looking for something to eat. It was swooping around in circles very high up in the sky. They have very good eyesight and can see small animals on the ground. When they see something they swoop down and grab it.
Wow! How fantastic to be amongst all that wildlife. I do feel sorry for the frog....but still would've been great to see! I love the birds of prey u get to see in the skies of the NT. Very interesting Hannah!!!
